Here We Go!

Well, out of the mist of the Coronavirus pandemic, we emerge with a new venture – Route 72 Cafe.

The uncertainty of our future world has made life very difficult for everybody, but here we are changing gears as the lockdown measures ease and people can spend more time outdoors.

With that in mind, Route 72 will focus on the positives of mid-2020 and beyond:

  • Encouraging people to cycle and leave cars at home. Our cycle-friendly cafe is on the Coast 2 Coast Route 72 cycleway which stretches from the Cumbrian Coast to Tynemouth on the East coast. More info.
  • Large outdoor space that makes social distancing easy.
  • Freshly made coffee in eco-friendly disposable cups.

Newcastle upon Tyne is at the forefront of encouraging more cyclists onto the roads, so we hope to fit in with their vision. After all, if it’s good for your health and good for the planet there is no excuse!

So, we’ll be opening our doors officially on Saturday 4th July and hope to see your faces. Bring your bike or walk down, stretch the dog’s legs on our lawn and feel free to bring the kids. Our coffee will give you that burst of energy on a morning, and you’ll be relaxed and ready to start your day.

Thanks for reading – full opening hours and menus to follow soon. Bon voyage.

Bruce & Iain.
